Animal-Assisted Learning

• Our Special Needs Teaching service is dedicated to enhancing the educational experience for children, teens, and adults with special needs.

• ADHD, ASD, Social Skills, Behavioural Management, Emotional Regulation, study skills & struggles in foundational literacy and numeracy knowledge can be addressed in sessions.

• With the companionship of our therapy dog, we provide an uplifting environment where clients can work on life skills and building capacity engaging in goal-directed programs.

• Developed in consultation with Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, or your child’s schoolteacher, our tutoring sessions are both fun and interactive, ensuring that learning is not just productive but also a delightful experience.

• Our Remedial Literacy and Numeracy Tutoring service focuses on building the essential skills needed for academic success and daily life. 

• We cater to learners of all ages, using evidence-based programs tailored to assess and elevate each individual’s understanding. The inclusion of our therapy dog adds an element of excitement and motivation, turning challenging tasks into enjoyable activities. 

• With our engaging approach, we aim to maintain high levels of motivation and engagement, fostering a positive attitude towards learning and personal development.

Steps Dog Training

$150 for 1.5 hr Initial behaviour assessment

At Steps Dog Training, we place utmost importance on the unique bond you share with your dog. Our innovative, games-based training approach is designed to enhance this relationship, making you the most fascinating aspect of your dog’s world, helping to eliminate any distractions and keep your dogs full focus on you.

This method ensures that the connection between you and your dog grows stronger, fostering mutual respect and understanding.

Special Needs Tutoring

Our Special Needs Tutoring service uniquely caters to children over 7 years, teens, and adults, focusing on enhancing the educational experience for those with special needs and building essential skills in literacy and numeracy for academic and daily life. 

Our sessions are crafted to be both productive and enjoyable. We use evidence-based programs, tailored to each individual’s needs, and the joyful presence of our therapy dog adds an extra layer of motivation and engagement.

This approach transforms learning challenges into fun, interactive activities, maintaining high levels of engagement and fostering a positive attitude towards learning and personal development.

Whether it’s working on therapy homework or building foundational skills, our goal is to ensure a delightful and empowering educational journey for all individuals.

Early Childhood Intervention

Our Early Childhood Intervention service embraces a holistic approach that focuses on the young child’s needs within the family context. 

We work closely with families of children up to 9 years old to design interventions that not only resonate with the family’s needs but also complement the objectives set by the child’s Speech Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist and Psychologist. 

Whether incorporating the joyful presence of a therapy dog or not, our methods are flexible and responsive, ensuring that each child receives the support they need to thrive in their early developmental stages. Through collaborative planning and execution, we aim to build a strong foundation for lifelong learning and growth.

Stay & Train at Steps

For the Breeder:  We will support you in the early weeks – giving activities to support the puppies development. 

The puppies arrive when weaned (between 6 & 8 weeks of age) to continue character building and training.

Each puppy is trained in a way that addresses their specific personality, considering their strengths and struggles.

This program helps to build confidence and calm – vital for young pups going into Assistance Dog training and Therapy Dog work.
